Summer China Travel and Teaching Program
Teachers participating in Summer China Travel and Teaching Program will provide a total twelve days of English instruction. They will teach six 45-minute sessions per day – three sessions in the morning and three sessions in the afternoon. Most teachers will teach the same grade level and repeat the AM instruction for their PM classes. A local classroom teacher will be provided to assist North American teachers in each class. A two-hour lunch break will be provided on each teaching day. Before Summer School starts, teachers will have two days of planning time to work with their grade-level teachers on lesson plans and curriculum.

Teachers will be provided with content-based ESL curriculum to be taught to their students. In order to make language learning more meaningful and interesting for the students, teachers are encouraged to supplement the core ESL curriculum with their own effective instructional materials. Classroom instruction shall be focused on listening and speaking skills as well as vocabulary building with some emphasis on reading and writing. It is highly recommended that teachers use effective ESL teaching strategies that actively engage students in acquiring the English language.
