Eligibility Requirements:
The Chinese schools that sponsor this program are looking for enthusiastic professional educators:
- Who are in excellent physical condition for walking, stairs, and hot, humid weather.
- Who have the ability to adapt to changes in routine.
- Who have cheerful and positive disposition.
- Who have excellent work ethics.
- Who have enthusiasm for teaching.
- Who have excellent classroom management.
- Who have the ability to maintain students actively engaged in the lesson.
- Who appreciate and respect the Chinese culture.
- Who keep an open mind about a culture that is different from their own culture.
If you possess the above qualities, you are welcome to apply for this unique program.
- Applicants must be residents currently living in the US when applying for the program and prior to flight departure from the US.
- Applicants must be in excellent health condition. The three-week intensive summer program demands tremendous energy and endurance.
- Applicants must be native speakers of English or fluent English speakers whose language proficiency is close to native.
- Applicants must meet one of the followings:
- Current K – 12 Classroom Teachers certified by state office of education in the USA .
- College seniors who will have completed Teacher Credential Program prior to June 2012.
Priority is given to the experienced teachers who are currently teaching ESL, foreign languages, and K – 6 English language arts.
This program is NOT the right program for the following applicants:
- Applicants who have medical or physical/mental conditions that interfere with their ability to teach and travel in the extremely hot, humid weather.
- Applicants who have alcohol/drug abuse.
Note: The Chinese schools have ZERO Tolerance for excessive alcoholic consumption that interferes with a teacher’s ability to function normally and perform well in teaching. Drug abuse is illegal in China.
- Applicants who have problems eating Chinese food or using squat – style toilets.
